The long-awaited Final Report on e-marketplace platforms sector analysis (published as a Working Paper on 07.05.2021) is published today on 14.04.2022.
According to the report, in our economy, where digitalization is still in its early stages, digital platforms become the main gateway to reach markets and consumers, and businesses that do not comply with the rules set by the platforms face the fear of being left out of the game. In addition, new competition problems arise with the new business models of the digital economy. In essence, within the scope of this long-awaited report, a sector analysis is carried out for e-marketplace platforms in order to understand all the competitive and anti-competitive effects fed by the e-marketplaces and the practices of e-marketplaces to determine the appropriate policies for them, to understand the functioning of e-marketplaces, and the factors that make competition work and/or hinder it in this field. In this context, the final version of the report has been published, taking into account both the changes and developments in the sector, in the period that has passed since the Working Paper.
The determinations made in this report will also be important in the investigations about e-marketplaces that are currently being carried out by the Board and in acts such as preliminary research, investigation, and reconciliation/commitment to be carried out in the future.
